Characters, Bytes, and Encoding
Introduction
This lesson opens the Strings section of PCAP-31-03, which carries 18% of the score and 8 of the 40 items. It covers objective 3.1: how computers represent text, with ASCII, Unicode, UTF-8, code points and escape sequences, and the functions ord() and chr() that connect characters to numbers. The following lesson uses this foundation for indexing, slicing, immutability and comparison; chapter 7 covers the string methods.
